The Dalikamata and Reverie series are small original works of art that combine Rowena's favorite materials and themes in a more affordable price range. They pack a lot of punch in a mini work of art!

Dalikamata is a Visayan goddess who oversaw the health of the people, most particularly of their eyes. She is described as a lovely maiden with a thousand eyes all over her body, giving her the ability to see everywhere all at once, as well as the gift of clairvoyance. She is known to be a sympathetic diety, weeping at night over people's misfortunes and misdeeds, and her tears became the morning dew. Babaylans (predominantly female or feminized male healers) would then collect the morning dew for use in potions and healing salves. Read more here.

This piece features a teal hand-woven binakol textile from the Ifugao region of the Philippines. In an effort to support these regional craft traditions and minimize waste, I partnered with Vinta Gallery, a luxury Philippine clothing company, to purchase their fabric remnants and repurpose them in my artwork.

The fairytale illustration featured in the center is from Two Frogs. I use fairytale illustrations from books I read as a child to explore the ways in which such seemingly innocent stories shape our beliefs and values, affecting the way we move through the world and interact with others. The illustration and naturally translucent capiz shell disc are sewn into place with Czech glass seed beads and finished with tassels. The piece comes to you ready to hang with a single D-ring on the back.

This is an original work of art and no two pieces in these series will ever be the same.
