Charcoal Portrait Drawing Workshop

Virginia Beach Art Center, April 3, 2021, 10:00am-3:00pm

In this one-day workshop I'll show you from start to finish how to create a lifelike portrait in charcoal. One of the most ancient artist's tools in existence, charcoal is still a popular medium today because of its flexibility and velvety texture. It's very forgiving, provides much quicker coverage than graphite pencil and yields striking, dramatic results. We will talk about different types of charcoal and which tools to use to capture that elusive likeness and spark of life. Students will have the opportunity to draw from a live model. Recommended supplies listed on registration page. Face coverings and social distancing are required.

Space is limited for 6 participants.
